Up Close

Photography as a Way of Seeing

2017–ongoing

In collaboration with Marija Skočir (Si), Saša Kralj (Hr), Matevž Paternoster (Si) and the team at Jakopič Gallery

Up Close is a photography study group for adults of all levels of photography knowledge. Designed to go beyond the mere photography technique this practice-based programme taps into visual literacy through various photography genres such as analogue, architecture, art, documentary, lifestyle, portrait, travel, etc. The workshop series trains participants’ critical eye while we emphasise on the contextual and critical understanding of the world we operate in and photograph. With a diverse group of mentors we cover the photography medium theoretically as well as practically and give critical feedback based on their work produced in person and remotely when asked or needed.

Workshop premise:

  1. 4 mentors per 16 participants
  2. 5 workshops per season
  3. Intense Friday and Saturday workshops
  4. An in-depth practice based work
  5. Theoretical background
  6. Feedback in person or remotely
  7. Assignments on participant’s chosen themes

Workshopped at: Jakopič Gallery, Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, Slovenia. 2017–2018
