Colour Positive

A land art project with an educational twist

2017

In collaboration with Una (Si/Hr) and in conjunction with Benčić Youth Council (Hr)

The Colour Positive is a site-generated site-specific intervention made by arranging coloured pebbles into a land art. By moving, sorting and placing over 2 tons of pebbles we, with the help of 13 kids from Benčić Youth Council in Rijeka, formed 6 distinct colour stripes. Placed on a beach, our intention was to affect perception of beach goers. In days after the intervention was placed the sea mixed once colour-ordered beach back to the indistinct mixture of colours. The project was part of a workshop that taught pre-teenage kids about visual art discipline of land art. The workshop was conduced over two weekends in May 2017 and included theory, ideas and sketching brainstorming, sorting, and placing the installation on the beach.
